About Cupertino

A guide to the city, its neighborhoods, and its homes.

Cupertino sits at the foot of the Santa Cruz Mountains between Sunnyvale, Los Altos, and Saratoga. Apple Park, Apple's headquarters, is in the city.

Homes include post-war single-family houses, Eichlers in Rancho Rinconada, hillside homes, and townhomes and condos near Stevens Creek Boulevard.

Getting around

I-280 and SR-85 cross the city. Stevens Creek Boulevard and De Anza Boulevard are the main roads.

Cupertino has no Caltrain station. The nearest stations are Sunnyvale and Mountain View, and VTA buses connect to them.

Homes

Many original ranch homes have been rebuilt as larger two-story houses. Townhomes and condos make up a meaningful share of sales.

New mixed-use projects along Stevens Creek Boulevard, including the redevelopment of the former Vallco mall site, add housing supply.

Schools

Cupertino is in the Cupertino Union School District for kindergarten through 8th grade and the Fremont Union High School District for 9th through 12th grade. De Anza College is in the city.

School boundaries change. Confirm the assigned schools for any address with the district before you buy.

Parks, shops, and things to do

Rancho San Antonio Preserve, Fremont Older Preserve, and Stevens Creek County Park have trails in the foothills. Memorial Park hosts many city events.

Main Street Cupertino and the shopping centers along Stevens Creek Boulevard have restaurants and shops.

What to check before you buy

  • Hillside areas may fall in mapped wildfire hazard zones or landslide areas. Check maps and insurance quotes.
  • Confirm the school assignment by address with the district.
  • Read HOA documents and reserve studies for townhomes and condos.
