A guide to the city, its neighborhoods, and its homes.
Los Gatos is a town at the base of the Santa Cruz Mountains, on SR-17 between San Jose and Santa Cruz. It has a historic downtown along North Santa Cruz Avenue.
Homes range from Victorian and Craftsman houses near downtown to ranch homes on the flats and large custom homes in the hills.
SR-17 runs through town to Santa Cruz, and SR-85 crosses the north side. I-280 is about 15 minutes north.
Los Gatos has no rail station. The nearest light rail stops are in Campbell, and Caltrain is in San Jose.
Single-family homes make up most sales. Downtown has some condos and townhomes.
Many addresses with a Los Gatos mailing address sit outside the town limits, in unincorporated Santa Clara County or San Jose.
Most of the town is in the Los Gatos Union School District for kindergarten through 8th grade and the Los Gatos-Saratoga Joint Union High School District for 9th through 12th grade. Other districts serve some addresses with a Los Gatos mailing address. Check by address.
School boundaries change. Confirm the assigned schools for any address with the district before you buy.
Vasona Lake County Park, Oak Meadow Park, and the Los Gatos Creek Trail run along the creek. Sierra Azul and Saint Joseph's Hill preserves have trails in the hills.
Downtown has restaurants, shops, and a weekly farmers market.
